8 Days Mt. Kenya (6 Days Trek)

Day 1: Arrival

As you touch down at Moi Interantional Airport, a warm Kenyan welcome awaits you! Your designated guide will escort you directly to your hotel, where you can unwind and immerse yourself in the vibrant African ambiance. The following day, embark on an exclusive, personalized safari adventure led by your guide, granting you the freedom to explore at your leisurely pace.

Day 2: Nairobi to Sirimon Gate to Old Moses Camp

our adventure begins with an early morning departure from Nairobi, heading to the Sirimon Gate, which sits at an elevation of 2,600 meters. Upon arrival, you will complete park formalities and start your trek through montane forest and bamboo zones, gradually emerging into the heather moorland. The day's trek covers approximately 9 kilometers and typically takes 3 to 4 hours. You'll reach Old Moses Camp, situated at 3,300 meters, where you'll enjoy dinner and spend the night.

Day 3: Old Moses Camp to Shipton Camp

After an early breakfast, you will set out for Shipton Camp, a trek of about 14 kilometers that usually takes 6 to 8 hours. This section of the hike takes you through the scenic moorland and across the Liki and Mackinder's valleys, offering splendid views of the peaks and various flora. Shipton Camp, located at 4,200 meters, serves as your base for the night. An acclimatization hike around the camp in the afternoon helps your body adjust to the altitude.

Day 4: Acclimatization at Shipton Camp

To aid acclimatization, you will spend an additional day at Shipton Camp. Optional short hikes around the area, such as to Oblong and Hausberg Tarns, provide opportunities to explore and acclimate without exerting too much energy. It's important to rest, hydrate well, and prepare for the summit push. Dinner and overnight stay will be at Shipton Camp.

Day 5: Shipton Camp to Point Lenana to Mackinder's Camp

This day is the highlight of the trek, with a pre-dawn start to ascend to Point Lenana, the trekker's summit of Mount Kenya, at 4,985 meters. Reaching the summit in time for sunrise provides breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks and valleys. After celebrating your achievement at the summit, you will descend via the Naro Moru Route to Mackinder's Camp, which is located at 4,300 meters. This challenging day covers about 11 kilometers and can take 10 to 12 hours. Dinner and overnight stay will be at Mackinder's Camp.

Day 6: Mackinder's Camp to Met Station

Following breakfast, you'll continue your descent through the vertical bog, gradually transitioning into the forested area. This day's trek covers approximately 9 kilometers and takes 4 to 6 hours, ending at the Met Station at 3,000 meters. Here, you'll enjoy your dinner and spend the night.

Day 7: Met Station to Naro Moru Gate to Nairobi

On the final day, you'll descend the last 10 kilometers through the forest to reach the Naro Moru Gate at 2,400 meters. This section typically takes 2 to 3 hours. After completing the trek, you'll be transferred back to Nairobi, arriving in the afternoon.

Day 8: Flight to Home

On your final day, luxuriate a while longer at the lodge, basking in relaxation before our driver escorts you to Jomo Kenyata International Airport for your homeward-bound flight, tailored to suit your departure schedule.
